The closure of the Kipapa Stream Bridge will allow work crews to do bridge deck work.

The Kipapa Stream Bridge, also known as the Roosevelt Bridge, on Kamehameha Highway is closed in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue this weekend, starting 9 p.m. Friday night through 8 a.m. Monday.

The closure will allow work crews to do bridge deck work, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Other such closures are tentatively scheduled for the weekends starting Aug. 11, Sept. 8, Nov. 6, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18, according to the DOT.

DOT officials advise motorists to use the H-2 Freeway as an alternate route. The weekend closures allow the overall project to be completed faster and to reduce impacts during traditional commute times, the DOT said in a statement.
