5 seriously injured in 2-car crash in Kalihi

Emergency Medical Services transported five people to a trauma hospital after they were involved in a two-car collision in Kalihi.

The crash occurred at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of North School Street and Lanakila Avenue.

Police said a 2014 Kia Soul occupied by four people was traveling eastbound on North School Street and was turning left into a driveway when a 2001 Dodge Durango traveling westbound on the roadway collided into the vehicle.

The Kia Soul rolled over upon impact. Police said paramedics transported four occupants — two males and two females — to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition.

Emergency Medical Services also transported the male driver of the Dodge Durango to Queen’s in serious condition. The driver was the sole occupant at the time of the crash.

Police said alcohol is a possible factor involving the Dodge driver.
