Small earthquake hits Hawaii island

PAHALA >> A magnitude 3.0 earthquake hit Hawaii island.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake hit at 5:59 p.m. today. Its epicenter was 12 miles north of Pahala, a town with a population of about 1,300 in the southern part of the island.

The USGS says the earthquake had a depth of about 5 miles. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
