The Hawaii Bicycling League has launched the first edition of the Oahu Bike Map based on input from more than 50 local cyclists around the island.

The bike map includes bike lanes, protected bike lanes, multiuse paths and shared roads that cyclists rely on categorized as “low-stress,” “moderate-stress” and “high-stress connections.” The map also lists transit centers and points of interest such as Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe.

All new and renewing members receive the Oahu Bike Map with their membership package. New members can sign up for rates starting at $35, with special rates of $25 for students and military.

The bike maps are also available for purchase from $2 to $3 at local bike shops including BikeFactory in Honolulu and Waipio; McCully Bicycle and Sporting Goods; The Bike Shop in Aiea, Honolulu and Kailua; and Eki Cyclery.

A digital version is available to print or download for free at hbl.org (click on “resources”).

The Hawaii Bicycling League welcomes comments on the map to make the second edition even better. Email bicycle@hbl.org. A web page will be set up, according to the league, so that everyone’s comments will be visible.
