Hawaii island jewelry designer Marcia Ricchiuti’s Kahili Creations are among brands being highlighted during this year’s Amazon Prime Day, which starts 3 p.m. Monday. The global shopping day for Prime members offers special deals every five minutes on Amazon.com.

Ricchiuti’s handmade creations can be found in the Handmade at Amazon category where five gemstone jewelry pieces will be offered at a 20 percent discount as one of Amazon’s Lightning Deals at various times throughout the day.

Ricchiuti has been making jewelry for 20 years, selling her work internationally through boutiques such as Tommy Bahama and online via her own website and Etsy.com. Since starting to sell with Amazon two years ago, she said her business quadrupled right away.

Last year’s Prime Day caused her sales to spike 2,500 percent, which led to her being invited as a featured designer this year.

“I just ship all my items to Amazon’s warehouse and they do all the shipping and all the customer service. I don’t have to hustle as much. Before, any time I had to take a breather was spent looking for new boutiques to stock my jewelry.

“I live in rural Big Island where there’s no place to shop so I love Prime Day as a consumer too.”
