‘Failed database’ opens isles to threat of invasive pests, audit says

    The coconut rhinoceros beetle is an invasive species that poses a threat to Hawaii’s environment.

The state Agriculture Department’s Plant Quarantine Branch is not blocking invasive pests from entering Hawaii as well as it could because its “failed database” doesn’t target the most imminent threats, a state audit released Wednesday said. Read more
