O.J. Simpson reacted after he was granted parole at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nev., on Thursday. Room 1203 at Palace Station garnered worldwide notoriety in 2007 when Simpson was sent to prison for breaking in and robbing its occupants.

As part of an ongoing resortwide overhaul, the bungalow-style Courtyard Rooms at Palace Station are being razed. Though a significant demolition, it’s not the sort of thing that usually draws a lot of attention in the ever-changing Las Vegas, except that one of the rooms is among the city’s most famous.

Room 1203 garnered worldwide notoriety in 2007 when OJ Simpson was sent to prison for breaking in and robbing its occupants. Room 1203 is back in the news with Simpson’s parole pending, but it’s no longer for rent at Palace Station.

Wynn parking

Wynn Resorts has announced its paid-parking plan for Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. Beginning Aug. 7, self-parking will cost $7 for the first two hours, $12 for two to four hours and $15 for up to 24 hours. The first hour is free. There are no discounts for casino guests or locals. Paid valet parking is already in effect, with fees of $15 for the first four hours and $20 up to 24 hours.

Cromwell additions

A sports book is being built at the Cromwell. Soon to be conspicuous no more as the only casino on the Strip without a book, the new facility is expected to be open by the start of this year’s NFL season. Also, a new 24-hour dining outlet called Eatwell has opened. The snack bar fills a major need for a low-cost food option at the center-Strip resort.

Another Shake Shack

The fourth Las Vegas-area Shake Shack debuted last week. It’s in the District at Green Valley Ranch.

Question: Do the sports books offer daily fantasy sports?

Answer: The casinos offer a modified version of the Daily Fantasy Sports format that most are familiar with. It’s structured as a parimutuel pool, similar to horse racing, but the casino edge is similar to the standard DFS games, at around 10 percent. An app for the casino version that will allow play from outside (but you must be in Nevada) is expected to be in place by football season.
