Hawaiian Airlines Inc., a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc., reported traffic gains for the month of July that contributed to year-to-date increases for the carrier.
The carrier said Monday that it carried 1.06 million passengers in July, a 2.5 percent gain from the July 2016. Hawaiian Airlines also reported that its revenue passenger miles (the number of miles traveled by paying customers) increased 1.9 percent to 1.48 billion.
The carrier’s available seat miles (one seat transported one mile) grew 0.5 percent to 1.69 billion. The carrier’s load factor, a measure of how efficient an airline is at filling seats and generating fares, also increased 1.1 percentage points to 87.3 percent.
Year to date, the airline carried 6.65 million passengers, a 3.3 percent gain from the first seven months of 2016. Hawaiian Airlines also reported that its revenue passenger miles increased 6.1 percent to 9.37 billion and its available seat miles grew 3.3 percent to 10.95 billion. The carrier’s load factor also increased 2.2 percentage points to 85.6 percent.

Gourmet Events Hawaii has hired Denise Clark as general manager. Her responsibilities include leading sales efforts, overall operations of the company, branding strategies and developing sales. Clark was previously a director of cruise ship operations and product development for Atlantis Adventures for 15 years.
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has named Daniel Shaw as vice president and chief financial officer. Shaw had served as interim chief financial officer since April. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001 as director of hospital finance for Los Angeles Medical Center and has since held positions including director and vice president of financial planning for Kaiser’s largest region in Southern California and vice president of national financial planning in its Oakland, Calif., program office.
