Meira Durate enjoys the water at an AccesSurf event off White Plains Beach at Kalaeloa in 2016.

If your dream surf session includes sharing the lineup with Carissa Moore, Makua Rothman, Joel Centeio, Mike Coots and others, you have until Tuesday morning to buy a $20 raffle ticket for a chance at an exclusive 90-minute outing with a pro at Queen’s Surf on Aug. 24 during Duke’s OceanFest.

The inaugural “Surfing with the Stars” fundraiser benefits AccesSurf, a nonprofit organization that, since 2006, has been providing free programs that get people with disabilities to the beach and into the ocean to enjoy the waves.

The 150 or so participants in AccesSurf programs every month include people with spinal cord injuries, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy, who are assisted by 250 volunteers, said Cara Short, executive director.

“We also hold adaptive (modified) surf and swim clinics, and our Adaptive Surf Team trains and competes throughout the year,” Short said.

For raffle tickets, visit accessurf.org/surfingwiththestars. Get six tickets for $100; buy 12 to receive a free entry. Winners will be announced at noon Tuesday.
