Hawaii’s McKenna Granato hits past the block of BYU’s Cosy Burnett and Lyndie Haddock in the first set of the BYU vs Hawaii in the 2017 Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge at Stan Sheriff Center, Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Junior hitter McKenna Granato put down 23 kills with 13 digs and sophomore setter Norene Iosia also had a double-double, but it was not enough tonight as Hawaii lost to a ranked team for the eight consecutive time, falling short against No. 10 Brigham Young 25-18, 25-12, 16-25, 15-25, 15-7 in the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Wahine (2-5) got 10 kills from Casey Castillo in losing their third five-setter this season.

Veronica Jones-Perry had 27 kills for the Cougars (7-0) and McKenna Miller 19. It was the second straight win over Hawaii for BYU, the last being the 2013 NCAA tournament second round, the last time the Wahine hosted in the postseason.

Senior libero Savanah Kahakai had 20 digs to move up to No. 10 on the Hawaii all-time career list.
