Marukai Market Place at Ward Village will close its doors on September 30.

Marukai Market Place at 1020 Auahi St. at Ward Village is holding a clearance sale on all of its remaining inventory before closing its doors on Sept. 30.

Sales clerks at the store specializing in Japanese and other Asian products say the store will close for good on Sept. 30, with no immediate plans to open another one at this time. The store’s non-food items are marked down 40 to 50 percent while supplies last.

The Marukai Wholesale Mart at 2310 Kamehameha Highway in Dillingham will remain open.

The Howard Hughest Corp. announced in March that Marukai and REAL a Gastropub would have to close in December to clear the land for the construction of a new “central plaza” at Ward Village.
