Support local food processors

The commercial kitchen was established by nonprofit Friends for Waialua Town with state and federal help to foster businesses and jobs for former Waialua Sugar Co. workers when the sugar mill shut down in 1996. With her is Edith Ramiscal with some of her homemade pickles.

Even if the Waialua Community Kitchen cannot be reopened, plainly there is a need for something very much like it to serve North Shore farmers and food businesses, and for others of its kind to support farm-to-table operations statewide. Read more
