The state issued a public advisory for waters north of Kahului Harbor on Maui today due to a wastewater spill of about 62,500 gallons into the ocean.

The state health department advises staying out of Kahului Harbor from Kanaloa Avenue to Linekona Street due to wastewater discharge near the County Wailuku Wastewater pump station.

Warning signs have been posted and water samples are being collected. The public is advised to stay out of the waters until signs come down.
