UH soccer beaten by UC Irvine

Brian McInnis

The Hawaii soccer team was on the wrong end of a back-and-forth contest with UC Irvine tonight at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium, falling 3-2 to the Anteaters.

UH (5-7, 0-3 Big West) gave up the first goal of the game, rallied to take a 2-1 lead before halftime, but gave up the go-ahead score in the 72nd minute on a one-timer by Kiana Palacios in the box.

Dani Crawford and Leialoha Medeiros scored for UH, which saw its Big West tournament hopes take a hit. It was the sixth straight Big West loss for the Rainbow Wahine going back to last season.

It was the fifth career score for Crawford, a senior, and the first career for Medeiros, a freshman out of Kamehameha-Maui.

UH continues play at home on Thursday against UC Santa Barbara.
