Isle warships beef up U.S. forces in Western Pacific

    Guided missile destroyers USS Preble and USS Halsey, from Pearl Harbor, will be heading to the Western Pacific to join the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, which left San Diego Oct. 6. The USS Tucson, a Pearl Harbor-based submarine, arrived in South Korea, on Oct. 7. Sailors stand aboard the Tucson as the boat moors in Pearl Harbor after completing a regularly scheduled deployment.

A sizable number of Pearl Harbor warships will be heading to the Western Pacific or are already in the region that’s being bulked up with Navy firepower amid an ongoing showdown with North Korea. Read more
