Man charged in stabbing of housemate in Puna

A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Puna.

Michael Potee of Puna was charged Friday with second-degree assault. He was released after posting $2,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court in November.

Just after 12:25 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a man later identified as Potee allegedly stabbing a 34-year-old man at a home in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

Both men reside in the home.

The victim sustained stab wounds to his neck and was transported to Hilo Medical Center in serious but stable condition. He was later flown to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu where he was upgraded to stable condition.
