Michael Tsai

A 39-year-old man was left in critical condition Friday afternoon after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating collided with a car in Waianae.

According to police, a 2000 Volvo operated by a 39-year-old Makaha woman was attempting a turn in the intersection of Jade Street and Hanalei Street when it was struck by the ATV “at high speed.”

The ATV operator was ejected onto the roadway. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services personnel to an area hospital.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the collision. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs may have been factors, police said.
