Wahine basketball team wins at Seattle U

The Hawaii women’s basketball team pulled away late for its first win of the season, 73-58 at Seattle University today.

UH (1-1) responded from a 29-point drubbing in the season opener at Portland on Friday, getting a 15-point, 15-rebound effort from forward Makenna Woodfolk, 15 and 13 points from guards Julissa Tago and Sarah Toeaina, and 10 assists from point guard Tia Kanoa.

The Rainbow Wahine had a 13-point third-quarter lead trimmed to four with 7:23 remaining in the game. But UH went on a 14-2 run thanks to baskets by Lahni Salanoa, Woodfolk, Tago and Toeaina.

UH opens its home schedule against Northern Arizona in the Bank of Hawaii Classic on Friday.
