Crews work to put out a fire at a caretaker’s home at the corner of Kalani High School.

Traffic was backed up today on Kalanianaole Highway by Kalani High School due to a structure fire.

Police closed the westbound direction of the highway as crews worked to put out the fire, reported to be at a caretaker’s home at the corner of the campus. All lanes have since been reopened.

Fire crews were dispatched at 2:54 p.m., staffed with 11 companies and 43 personnel. They brought the fire under control by 3:30 p.m.

The one-story home was unoccupied and engulfed in flames upon arrival, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman David Jenkins said.

There are no reports of any injuries or damaged structures. The fire is under investigation and a cause has yet to be determined.
