Hawaiian first U.S. airline on board for daily air quality monitoring

    On Oct. 23 a specially equipped Hawaiian Airlines A330 wide-body aircraft began measuring the health of the atmosphere across the Pacific Ocean during its regularly scheduled routes. Hawaiian Air Executive Vice President Jon Snook, left, and Andreas Petzold of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research viewed the outboard instrument Monday.

Hawaiian Airlines has become the first U.S. airline to begin daily air quality monitoring of one of the biggest and cleanest regions of the planet: an area from China to New Zealand to Seattle. Read more
