Police and CrimeStoppers are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who police said followed a woman off a city bus and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was on the bus in Windward Oahu about 4:40 p.m. Aug. 2 when the man began talking with her, police said. The victim began to feel uncomfortable and got off the bus at Windward Mall where the man followed her inside and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The victim reported the incident to a store employee and mall security was notified.

Later the victim went back to the bus stop and boarded a bus with a friend. The same man followed her onto the bus and began talking with her again.

The victim told the suspect she was going to the police station to report the incident and got off the bus at Castle Medical Center where she notified police. Police opened a fourth-degree sexual assault investigation.

The suspect is described as 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, and 140 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue or purple baseball cap, a black-and-gray shirt, black pants and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME from a cell phone.
