Arson determined in fire at unoccupied Nanakuli home

The Honolulu Fire Department said a Tuesday night Nanakuli house fire was intentionally set, referring the case to the police arson unit.

Firefighters responded to a building fire at about 8:30 p.m. at 81-212 Mikana St. and brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, extinguishing it by 9:16 p.m. The home was reported to be derelict and unoccupied.

Estimated damages are $10,000 for the structure and $500 to its contents. No injuries were reported.
