Two children were transported to a hospital today after a school bus they occupied was struck by a vehicle in Mountain View.

Police responded to the crash shortly after 6:40 a.m. in the area of Highway 11 and North Oshiro Road. A school bus occupied by eight children between the ages of 11 and 14 was traveling on the highway and making a left turn onto North Oshiro Road when it was struck by a state pickup truck traveling south on the highway.

Two children were transported to Hilo Medical Center for minor injuries.

Police said the 52-year-old truck driver also was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The school bus driver did not sustain any injuries.
