Kaimuki Christmas Parade to close Waialae Avenue lanes tonight

The 70th annual Kaimuki Christmas Parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. today, resulting in the closure of two Waialae Avenue lanes starting at 5 p.m.

The 1.1-mile parade, presented by the Kaimuki Business & Professional Association, starts along Waialae Avenue and moves from Saint Louis School to Koko Head Avenue. More than 40 participants — including local schools, bands and Santa — are expected to march in the parade.

Two Diamond Head-bound lanes on the makai side of Waialae Avenue will be closed, and traffic will be contra-flowed on the remaining mauka lanes from 3rd to Koko Head Avenue. Motorists should expect traffic delays along Waialae Avenue and side streets for the duration of the parade.
