The Musicians Institute of Hawaii presents “A Christmas Celebration Music Recital” on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at The Mixx, 434 Piikoi St. Admission is free; food and beverages will be available.

Headlining the show is George Chun, whose credits in the record business go back many years. The other instantly recognizable participant is veteran island recording artist Rolando Sanchez who has been “el rey de la música tropical en Hawai” ever since he took the lead in taking contemporary Latin outside Hawaii’s local Puerto Rican and Hispanic military communities in the late 1980s.

Also sharing their talents are Kama‘a Barquez, Michelangelo Barquez, Jamie Brown, Gabriel Ko, Roman Kuahu, Janie Masunaga, Al Parez, Elzbieta Pettingill, Avelino Rene, Makoaihilani Rezentes and Paul Toyama.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that Tom Moffatt would be honored at the event. Organizers changed the event.
