Honolulu firefighters extinguished a two-alarm residential building fire in Kailua this morning.

At 11:37 p.m. Thursday, seven HFD units staffed with 26 fire personnel arrived on scene to the one-story building fire at 629 Wanaao Road, Capt. David Jenkins said in a statement.

The fire was brought under control at around 12:30 a.m. and fully extinguished by 12:43 a.m.

Five people were home at the time of the fire and were alerted by a smoke detector, Jenkins said.

The occupants were able to pull an adult woman through a window to safety prior to HFD’s arrival.

One woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and transferred to emergency responders. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates have not been determined.
