Wahine fall to Aggies in Las Vegas

Senior center Khaalia Hillsman scored 25 points, including hitting all 12 of her field goals, as No. 19 Texas A&M rolled past Hawaii 103-59 today in the Duel in the Desert women’s basketball tournament in Las Vegas.

Junior guard Danni Williams added 23 points with five 3-pointers for the Aggies (10-2). Junior forward Anriel Howard finished with a double-double (11 points-12 rebounds) as Texas A&M won the board battle 45-22, 35-11 on the defensive end.

The Rainbow Wahine (6-5) were led by senior guard Sarah Toeaina and sophomore forward Makenna Woodfolk, both of whom scored 10 points. Hawaii was 2-for-6 from the free-throw line while the Aggies were 13-for-16.

The Wahine trailed 30-12 after the first quarter, 57-27 at halftime and 72-37 after three quarters.

Hawaii concludes its three-game road trip on Friday against No. 10 Oregon (9-2) in the UNLV-hosted event. The Wahine finish out the nonconference season at the Stan Sheriff Center on Dec. 30 with Hawaii Pacific in a 7 p.m. game.
