Victim dies after being stabbed on oil tanker

A man in his late 50s has died after he was stabbed in the chest on an oil tanker at Pier 10 next to Aloha Tower Marketplace.

The stabbing occurred at about 1:05 a.m. Friday aboard the vessel Hai Soon 39. State Harbor Police responded and detained a 66-year-old man.

Honolulu police arrived and arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Police said the victim sustained a single wound. Emergency Medical Services transported him in critical condition to a trauma hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Man injured in fall from Pali Notches Trail

Firefighters rescued a 32-year-old man who fell about 75 feet from the Pali Notches Trail on Friday.

The man received injuries to his leg and back after falling at about 11:41 a.m., when the Honolulu Fire Department received a call for help.

Sixteen HFD personnel responded from five units, including the Air 1 helicopter.

Three rescue personnel, brought up by Air 1, reached the man at 12:12 p.m.

The man was treated and airlifted to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout and transferred to Emergency Medical Services personnel at 12:59 p.m. EMS paramedics treated him for multiple injuries and transported him in critical condition to a hospital, said Shayne Enright, Emergency Services Department spokeswoman.

Standoff in Hauula ends with man’s arrest

A police SWAT team broke through the front door of a Hauula home and arrested a man who had been barricaded inside for several hours Friday.

A neighbor, who asked not to be named, said he saw a red laser light on an officer’s vest when the door opened. The officer told the man, “You better be ready to shoot because I’m ready to shoot, too,” the neighbor said.

The incident began late Friday morning at 54-242-B Hauula Homestead Road. The SWAT team converged outside the home after the man barricaded himself inside when authorities tried to serve him with a bench warrant, according to police.
