Nuuanu Elementary School is closed today due to a water main break in the area, according to the Hawaii Department of Education.

The education department announced the closure via Twitter shortly before 5:30 a.m. A Board of Water Supply crew is responding to conduct repairs to a 12-inch water main that ruptured in proximity to the Oahu Service Center at 42 Puiwa Road.

Board of Water Supply Spokeswoman Kathleen Pahinui said they isolated the break, and water has since been restored to the school.

Two homes in the area are affected by the water main break at this time.
