    Hanauma Bay in October.

A 59-year-old South Korean visitor died today at an area hospital after being found unresponsive while snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.

At about 1:30 p.m., lifeguards rescued the woman from about three feet of water and performed CPR on the sand until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived, said Shayne Enright, spokeswoman for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.

The woman was snorkeling with a traditional mask and snorkel, Enright said.

EMS treated the woman and took her in critical condition to a hospital.

She was visiting Oahu with relatives from South Korea.
