UH men’s volleyball sweeps Lees-McRae

Sophomore hitter Austin Matautia came off the bench for 10 kills and No. 3 Hawaii used 17 players to sweep Lees-McRae 25-11, 25-11, 25-18 tonight in the Waikiki Beachcomber Classic men’s volleyball tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Reserve sophomore hitter Brandon Rattray added eight kills and four aces for the Rainbow Warriors (8-1) against the Conference Carolinas Bobcats.

LMC (1-7), with just eight players dressed, got five kills each from freshman hitter Robert Bowling and sophomore opposite Wes Rogman.

The match lasted 81 minutes.

In the opener, Academy United needed just 66 minutes to sweep Thompson Rivers 25-19, 25-21, 25-16.
