Honolulu police arrested a man, who was allegedly attempting to take $22.99 worth of vape pods from the McCully area Vape Kings store, when he drove off with a sales associate on the hood of his car.

According to a Honolulu Police Department highlight, the suspect ran off with the merchandise while a 28-year-old sales associate was attempting to ring it up around 6 p.m. Friday. The sales associate chased his car to a traffic light at South King and McCully streets and stood in front of it demanding that he return the items.

The suspect allegedly “nudged at the victim’s knees,” which pushed the victim backward onto the hood of the car, police said in the report. The suspect then allegedly “drove off with the victim on top of the hood of the car,” police said.

According to the report, the victim eventually fell onto the roadway, sustaining minor scrapes.

Police located the suspect nearby and arrested him around 6:51 p.m. for first-degree robbery.
