Did you know that every thought you have directly impacts how you experience your life? We think we see the world through our eyes, but in fact we see the world through our thoughts.

To demonstrate my point, close your eyes and think of the color green. Visualize anything green for about 15 seconds. When you open your eyes, scan your environment and you will notice that anything green will stand out, and the rest of the colors will barely have impact. This is the power of our mind.

We can use this power to affirm and focus on what is truly important to us in our lives. By altering our internal world, we see our external world differently and see possibilities that we never saw before.

This increases our potential to bring what we desire into our lives.

Early in my journey to create more happiness in my life, I learned about the power of positive affirmations. Everything we repeatedly say to ourselves is an affirmation. To this day I still find it helpful to feed my mind with positive affirmations — thoughts about what I want to focus on in my life.

When working in a garden, the seeds we water and nurture each day are the ones more apt to grow. When we sow an affirmation by repeating it daily, it keeps us reminded of what we want to grow in our lives.

Here are two of my favorite affirmations. Read them daily for best results. Then take time to write a few affirmations of your own!

Affirmation 1

I focus on where things are going right, even if there’s room for improvement. I appreciate what I have so I get more to appreciate.

When things are not going the way we want them to, the first thing we do is start complaining and blaming. This is natural. When we get together with friends, we tell them all the things that are going wrong.

The more we do this, the more of an incomplete picture we paint of our situation and the more we attract challenges. What we think about we bring about, and what we focus on we attract. Let this affirmation remind you to look for what is going right.

When you take your eyes off the obstacles in your path, you will naturally see a new path to follow.

Affirmation 2

I trust that everything that I need to get to where I want to go is on its way to me. I remain patient and focus on the next step.

When you first start out on any journey, what you need is not always available to you. Once you start, however, have you noticed that the right situation, person, circumstances and opportunities seem to magically line up? It’s no different with the challenges you may be facing right now. Don’t overwhelm yourself and stress out by thinking too far ahead. Take it step by step. Make the best decision you can right now based on what you know and not on what you fear will or will not happen. Do not be ruled by a fear-fabricated future or an incomplete, incorrect view of reality. Use this affirmation to let the present be your master.
