One dead, one in critical after Makaha hit-and-run pedestrian crash

One man died and another was critically injured tonight in an apparent hit-and-run incident in Makaha.

According to an Emergency Medical Services report, the victims were repairing a truck on the side of Farrington Highway near Makua Cave when they were struck by a vehicle.

A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man was transported in critical condition to an area hospital by paramedics.

Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was examined for minor injuries and refused further treatment.

The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. Police established a contraflow to allow traffic to pass through the area.
