Stakeholders want to curb crime they fear will mar Waikiki’s image

    The Armed Services Disciplinary Control Board in December put out an advisory on Waikiki crime, specifically at the intersection of Kalakaua and Royal Hawaiian avenues and the intersection of Kalakaua and Kapahulu avenues, mentioning 13 potentially risky establishments in the area. Above, Lewers Street between Kalakaua and Kuhio avenues gets darker farther away from Kalakaua.

Waikiki stakeholders are growing increasingly concerned that serious criminal activity like murders, youth gangs and prostitution could mar the state’s top tourist district. Read more
