Fire investigators found that a late-morning fire today caused an estimated $328,000 to a Waipahu house, but were unable to determine the cause, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.

A husband and wife were displaced after the fire destroyed 75 percent of their house, fire Capt. Kevin Mokulehua said.

Forty-one firefighters responded to the fire reported at 11:27 a.m. at 94-714 Kupuohi St.

Smoke and flames were emanating from the side of the single-story house, fire department officials said in a news release. The fire originated in the living room. The fire was brought under control at 11:40 a.m. and extinguished at 12:03 p.m.

The residents arrived home after the fire was extinguished.
