Lehua Avenue in Pearl City to close for restriping work

Lehua Avenue in Pearl City will be closed for restriping this week to add in bike lanes, according to city officials.

The avenue will be transformed into three vehicle-travel lanes with a center turn lane, and five-foot, buffered bike lanes on both sides.

Restriping is scheduled to take place between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays on Lehua Avenue between Kamehameha Highway and A Road. The project is expected to be completed within two weeks and will make it easier for pedestrians to cross the street. No parking spaces will be removed.

The work will be conducted in several phases. Drivers should anticipate delays, said the city, and should observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs and special duty police officers. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours, and illegally parked vehicles may be towed.

Traffic-related questions can be directed to Grace Pacific LLC at 561-7298 or the city’s Construction Manager, TM Designers, at 484-2370
