Temporary road repairs will require the closure of Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe between Kahekili Highway and the Heeia Stream Bridge, starting Monday morning, according to city officials.

From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, the three-mile section of Kamehameha Highway will be partially closed or fully closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes while crews are working. Special duty police officers will assist with traffic control at the work site.

“Although the city only controls a small portion of Kamehameha Highway, we’re doing all that we can to make improvements until this stretch of the roadway can be completely refurbished,” said Mayor Kirk Caldwell in a news release.

Only TheBus Route 55 and local area traffic will be allowed through this portion of Kamehameha Highway during active construction. The work is anticipated to be completed by July 31, weather permitting.

Questions or concerns about the project can be directed to the city Department of Facility Maintenance at 768-3600.
