Water main repairs require lane closures on North School Street

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply’s ongoing repair of a water main break on North School Street has forced the closure of two, Ewa-bound lanes between Ahonui and Hauiki streets.

At 10 a.m., the agency reported that only one lane in each direction was open to traffic since one of the town-bound lanes is being contraflowed.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes and avoid the area if possible. If unable to do so, motorists are asked to drive through the area slowly, and with caution.

Early this morning, the board believed that the main break was on the 16-inch water main, but discovered it was on the 6-inch main. The broken main was reported shortly before 4 a.m. today. A total of 22 customers continue to be without water service, and are being provided with water wagons. The board will offer updates as the repair progresses.
