The Honolulu Fire Department’s Air1 helicopter airlifted an injured hiker off Haiku Stairs Sunday.

The rescue specialist had to move the hiker twice because of high winds and cloud cover before finding a landing on the stairs where the helicopter could pick her up. The helicopter transported the hiker to a landing zone at Kaneohe District Park where they transferred her to a city ambulance crew at 6 p.m.

The other two hikers walked out on their own.
