Liam and Emma emerge as Hawaii’s top baby names of 2017

For boys, it was Liam. For girls, it was Emma.

Liam and Emma were the top-ranking baby names for Hawaii in 2017, according to the U.S. Social Security Administration, which released the list on Friday.

For boys, the top names were Liam (No. 1), followed by Noah (No. 2), Mason (No. 3), Elijah (No. 4) and Logan (No. 5). For girls, the top names were Emma (No. 1), followed by Olivia (No. 2), Aria (No. 3), Ava (No. 4), and Chloe (No. 5).

Hawaii’s top names were consistent with nationwide rankings for the first and second-ranking names, which were also Liam, Emma, Noah and Olivia.

Popular Hawaii baby names from 2016, including Mia for baby girls, fell from second place in 2016 to ninth place in 2017. Kai remained in 17th place for boys in 2016 and 2017.
