Cactus Bistro, which served “Modern Latin Cuisine, with Aloha,” is closing after six years in Kailua on Saturday .

A notice in the Cactus newsletter and Facebook page announced the closure “with heavy heart.… We have made great memories together, made some friends along the way and had a lot of fun! Cactus would like to say thank you for six amazing years in Kailua!”

Executive chef/owner John Memering opened the corner bistro at 767 Kailua Road in 2012. More recently Matthew Laidlaw became executive chef and specialized in Argentinian dishes, according to the Facebook page; he could not be reached for comment.
