A 48-year-old man was possibly bitten by a shark while surfing offshore Hau Bush in Ewa Beach this morning.

Honolulu EMS responded to the incident around 8:54 a.m. They treated the man for a possible shark bite to his lower left leg and transported him to an emergency room in serious condition. EMS said the man did not see a shark, but that his injuries were consistent with a possible bite.

Ocean Safety patrolled the area. They did not close the unguarded beach, but warning signs were posted and will remain up until Sunday. They also notified federal lifeguards at next door White Plains beach about the incident.
