Hawaii’s largest union, representing more than 42,000 government workers, endorsed Colleen Hanabusa for governor today, touting the congresswoman’s leadership skills in addressing pressing issues affecting working families in Hawaii.

The highly sought-after endorsement by the Hawaii Government Employees Association adds to a trove of other union endorsements Hanabusa has racked up since announcing her run for governor against Gov. David Ige.

“Colleen is a strong leader who understands the struggles of Hawaii’s working families. She will take action on critical issues including affordable housing, wage inequality and infrastructure,” said Randy Perreira, HGEA Executive Director. “She believes that our public workforce is one of our State’s greatest resources and is committed to working together with us.”
