Police are investigating a carjacking that occurred in Waianae.

Police said two North Shore residents, a 32-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, were sleeping in a white 2004 Honda Pilot at the end of Farrington Highway at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

They woke up to five male suspects, some clad in bandanas covering their faces, allegedly threatening them with an unspecified dangerous instrument. Police said the perpetrators took their vehicle with a Hawaii license plate TGY907.

The suspects fled in two vehicles, including the stolen Honda Pilot. A description of the other vehicle was not available at this time.

Police said the suspects and victims are strangers. No injuries were reported.

Police have initiated a first-degree robbery investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
