Taryn Hatcher is leaving Hawaii News Now after three years as a sports anchor and reporter.

Taryn Hatcher is leaving Hawaii News Now after three years as a sports anchor and reporter.

Hatcher, 25, will announce her plans when they are finalized later this week.

“We are extraordinarily proud of Taryn,” Hawaii News Now general manager Rick Blangiardi said. “We’ve had three wonderful years with her. We knew when we hired her right out of Rutgers University at the ripe old age of 22, that she was just at the outset of what promised to be a great career. Her first three years with us have been terrific.”

The past year, Hawaii News Now shifted its on-air sports emphasis from regular segments on newscasts to reporting on breaking news and special-interest stories. Hatcher and reporter David McCracken provide sports-related updates on the HNN’s web site. Hatcher also was co-host and co-producer of the “Nick Rolovich Show,” a weekly half-hour program on the University of Hawaii football team.

Hatcher will work at HNN until mid-July.
