Two Maui towns have made it to the top 10 of WalletHub’s list of “Best Beach Towns to Live in,” which was released today. Lahaina ranked No. 1 for the best beach towns to live in by the ocean, while Kihei ranked No. 8.

WalletHub, a personal finance website, compared 205 cities across 58 key indicators of livability, including housing costs, median annual property taxes, share of for-sale waterfront homes, weather, number of disasters and flood risk level. Other factors considered were lifeguards per capita, unemployment rate and quality of school system.

The list was split into two categories — towns located by the ocean and towns by lakes.

Lahaina topped the list for towns by the ocean, followed by Naples, Fla. (No. 2), Sarasota, Fla. (No. 3), Mill Valley, Calif. (No. 4) and St. Augustine, Fla. (No. 5). Kailua ranked No. 77, while Kapolei ranked No. 82 and Hilo ranked No. 153.
