Tritons edge Vulcans in soccer

UC San Diego’s Christina Oddone scored off a corner kick with six seconds left in the first half, and the No. 2 Tritons held off the Vulcans 1-0 at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.

UC San Diego (4-0-1) completely shut down the Hilo offense, holding the Vulcans (0-1-1) without a shot attempt the entire game. The Tritons managed 13 shots, with eight on goal.

Chaminade sweeps past Dominican

The Chaminade women’s volleyball team made easy work of Dominican (San Rafael, Calif.) as the Silverswords swept the Penguins 25-15, 25-21, 25-19 at McCabe Gym.

Emma Tecklenburg led the Silverswords (8-0, 2-0 PacWest) with 10 kills and added three service aces. Rachel Reedy added eight kills, with three blocks. Chaminade held Dominican (2-5, 0-2 PacWest) to a paltry .066 hitting percentage.
