Sunflowers shine: Visitors walked through a field of sunflowers at Himawari no Sato (Sunflower village) in Hokuryu, Hokkaido, in August. The 57-acre field contains about 1.5 million sunflowers that have transformed the hill into a sea of yellow despite heavy rain and low temperatures in early July that slowed the growth of the sunflowers and stunted their height.
