Complaint of loud music leads to assault, arrests in Kona

Hawaii County police arrested four people who allegedly were involved in the assault of a 63-year-old man, who was critically injured at a Kailua-Kona hotel after confronting them about loud music.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday, patrol officers responded to a report of an assault at a hotel located at the 75-5000 block of Palani Road in Kailua-Kona.

Police said the man was found lying on the ground in the hotel parking lot.

Police learned the man had confronted individuals in a vehicle in the hotel parking lot regarding loud music being played from a sports utility vehicle.

Police said the victim was assaulted by three individuals, a 30-year-old Kona man, a 30-year-old Honolulu man and a 41-year-old Honolulu woman, and was transported to the Kona Community Hospital in critical condition.

A 33-year-old Kona woman was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

All four suspects were taken to the Kona police cell block while detectives continued their investigation into the assault.
